Original scrapbook given to Ernest Sachs cross-listed as VC238, "Comments on tropical diseases of Liberia by James Knott," Firestone Plantations Company [1930]. It contains 194 photographs after the typewritten text. In addition, the papers include photocopies of materials in the Knott family's possession, including genealogies of the Knott and related families, correspondence of Knott (portion of a collection compiled by the depositor under the title Legacy: Love and letters of a World War II family), selected publications by Knott, bibliography, curriculum vitae (edited), and a videotape, "Five Knott children, 1932-1939" with accompanying text.

James Isaiah Knott earned his B.S.(1923) from Washington University and M. D. (1925) from Washington University Medical School. He was Assistant in Surgery (1925-1926). He served internships at Jewish Hospital of St. Louis (1926-1927) and at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester New York (1926). He was resident (cancer surgery) at Barnard Free Skin and Cancer Hospital, St. Louis (1927-1928).
